Privacy policy

What happens to your data when you read TodaysPedia, and the choices you have.

Last updated

The short version

  • You can read every page without an account, and we don't ask for personal information.
  • We don't run our own analytics, tracking pixels or cookies.
  • Our advertising partner, Google, may use cookies to show and measure ads. You can control this as described below.
  • If you email us, we use your message only to reply.

Who is responsible

This policy covers TodaysPedia at todayspedia.com. Questions or requests about your data can be sent tohello@todayspedia.com.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our hosting provider processes standard request data when you load a page: your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, the referring page and the time of the request. This data is used to deliver pages, keep the site secure and diagnose problems. It is kept only for a short period by the hosting provider and is not used to build a profile of you.

Cookies and local storage

TodaysPedia itself does not set cookies. Site features such as search and the back-to-top button work without storing anything on your device. The only cookies you may receive come from our advertising partner, described next.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent through a consent message before personalised ads or related cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time from the link that message provides. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; ads will still appear, but they won't be personalised.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use them only to reply and to act on your suggestion or correction. We don't add you to mailing lists, and we don't sell or share your details. Messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and then deleted.

Sharing and selling

We don't sell personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the site, namely our hosting provider and, for advertising, Google, each under its own privacy terms. Under some US state privacy laws, personalised advertising can count as “sharing”; you can opt out of it using the Google Ads Settings link above or a browser signal such as Global Privacy Control where supported.

International transfers

Our hosting and advertising providers operate internationally, so request data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. These providers apply safeguards required by law for such transfers.

Links to other websites

Our guides link to the services we write about. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read before signing up for anything.

Children

TodaysPedia is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, or to object to how it is used. To make a request, email hello@todayspedia.com. We'll respond within the time required by law.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if our practices change, for example if we add analytics, and show the new date at the top.
